In March 2019, Ultrasuede® launched the Ultrasuede® Innovation Award in collaboration with LABELHOOD, which operates select specialty stores in China and also serves as a fashion events incubator.
This is an initiative to support young Chinese designer brands that are expected to be successful in the future.
As a new stage of this initiative that has been held three times before (https://www.ultrasuede.toray/en/features/collabo/future_support/labelhood.html), from 2022 onwards, Ultrasuede® will independently select designers to receive a cash prize of 100,000 RMB and receive both materials and technical support from Ultrasuede® to participate in a show at Shanghai Fashion Week.
AO YES 凹是 is a brand founded in 2020 by designer Liu Yansong, who studied fashion at Tokyo’s Bunka Fashion College, and Austin Wang, who has a media background. The brand originates from China and connects traditional Chinese elements with contemporary styles, expressing bold designs that evoke freshness through unconventional ideas, supple and varied expressions, and careful choices of garment details and materials.
The theme of the 25AW collection is "Unread Script," focusing on unspoken feelings, unopened letters, and love quietly nurtured deep inside the heart but never revealed outwardly.
The looks crafted in the brand's signature red were brilliantly highlighted by the vivid colors unique to Ultrasuede®, beautifully expressing the passion hidden deep within the chest.
The looks made from thick, warm brown Ultrasuede® have just the right firmness and flexibility to create a three-dimensional shape. This gives the garments a strong presence and elegant flow as they move.
In addition, the Ultrasuede® combined with aluminum material has shape-retaining properties. The fabric’s wrinkles, resembling crumpled letters, beautifully connect with the theme of this season.
