ULTRASUEDE® x LABELHOOD Innovation Award

About “Ultrasuede®×LABELHOOD Innovation Award”

Toray and Labelhood created this award program in keeping with their complementary visions, Toray’s being to social prosperity and a better future for generations to come and Labelhood’s being to invigorate the Chinese fashion scene. In its second year, this award is also in collaboration with Labelhood, a fashion incubator for young independent designers in China.
The winners will receive 100,000 RMB as scholarships to support future activities. Toray also contributed ultrasuede material and technological support for in preparation for Labelhood-sponsored fashion shows.

LABELHOOD

This platform was launched to foster the progress of China’s youth culture. It operates a store offering select domestic designer brands and conceives and runs a range of fashion events. The Labelhood Pioneer Fashion & Arts Festival started since 2014 is an official Shanghai Fashion Week event.
Through these activities, Labelhood contributes to develop the Chinese fashion scene by providing a community where people can experience Chinese culture.

MING MA

After graduation from the Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Designs, Ming Ma launched his own brand in Shanghai in 2018. While still in college, he took part in collaborative projects with various companies, and participated in Labelhood’s event for Shanghai Fashion Week soon after his graduation. His creative talent is attracting much attention in the fashion world.

STAFFONLY

Royal College of Art alumni Une Yea and London College of Fashion graduate Shimo Zhou co-founded STAFFONLY in 2015. They are known for forward-thinking creative concept of fashion design. Their fresh and unique take on contemporary menswear collections attracts professional organizations included Vogue Talents, the International wool mark Prize and Bof China prize’s attention since their debut.

JACQUES WEI

Jacques Wei brought out his women’s label in 2019. Its inspiration is the enduring influence of traditional French fashion brands. He has garnered acclaim for combining classic elements and contemporary silhouettes in his designs. His off-the-rack apparel employs the precise and meticulous tailoring and other intricate techniques of haute couture and menswear and features glamorous and delicate materials in clean, simple lines that accentuate urban feminine chic.
