JOURNEO Concept by Chery with partially plant-derived Ultrasuede®

Ultrasuede® is adopted by SMPV Fulwin JINYUN / JOURNEO Concept by Chery. It is on display at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show.
This concept car is designed for adventures with family and friends “off the beaten track” and this large 4-seat SMPV combines limited off-road capabilities with luxurious comfort and can transform into a premium mobile basecamp upon arrival.

JOURNEO Storytelling

Nuwa, the goddess who created the humanity, scattered the magical stone on the earth, which turned into all kinds of jade, symbolizing the five basic elements composing life: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. JOURNEO Color scheme

Emerald to mint green tones mixed with warm grey earth tones, soft matt moss surfaces in contrast with gloss mirroring surfaces like lakes. Embracing tonality of hillside areas.

JOURNEO design concept

Habitat circularity refers to the concept of designing vehicles with sustainability and circular economy principles.

The front seats and console move on hidden underfloor rails, allowing for flexible arrangement of the “furniture” within this mobile high-end living room. Comfort features include detachable door inserts that can be repurposed as pillows and placed throughout the cabin.
The seatback of the rear bench opens up to transform into a large, luxurious lounge space with unobstructed views through the expansive glass tailgate. Self-balancing technology in the front seats ensures a smooth ride over rough terrain.

Ultrasuede® is used for its seats, door panels, instrument panels, steering. The original JOURNEO’s monogram pattern on Ultrasuede® was developed by fully digital laser edging process.These utilize Ultrasuede® which is made from approximately 26% plant-based raw materials, including polyester ethylene glycol derived from waste molasses of sugarcane and polyurethane derived from castor oil. It is an environmentally friendly and ethical material with a high-quality, smooth texture — perfect for creating an elegant and comfortable vehicle interior. Ultrasuede® was the best material to bring innovation and eco-conscious design for this concept model.
