The new NIO EC6 with partially plant-derived Ultrasuede®
NIO's new EC6 model was launched in September 2023. The new EC6 model is 4,849 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,697 mm in height. This iconic fastback coupé is equipped with a dual-mode active spoiler and a smooth, curved contour that gives the rear of the vehicle an expressive silhouette. The new, luxury EC6 is priced in China at over fifty thousand dollars for the 75-kWh battery pack type and over fifty seven thousand dollars for the 100-kWh battery pack type. The latest type of Ultrasuede® uses plant-derived resources as part of the raw materials, and is utilized for multiple parts of the upholstery.
The new EC6 inherits the philosophy of giving passengers a second living room with its enveloping interior. Fine details such as invisible smart air vents, deco strips with a gentle gloss and polished microswitches create a space that is simple and sleek. Also, acoustic conditions are optimized in a total of 59 areas, enabling excellent noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) performance. The use of Ultrasuede® in the ceiling, pillars and sun visors gives the vehicle a luxurious and warm atmosphere. The roof features a large 1.770 m2 panoramic sunroof that allows for a daylighting area of 1.156 m2, along with a 4.96 mm double-layer heat/sound insulating glass as standard, bringing sunlight and warmth into the vehicle.
The new EC6 is available in nine exterior colors and four interior colors. Onyx Black Ultrasuede® is used in ceilings, pillars and sun visors. The color tone is the same as previous models, but a newly developed, partially plant-derived Ultrasuede® is used. The latest product, which uses polyester made from ethylene glycol produced from sugarcane molasses, has a plant-derived raw material ratio of approximately 20%. The environmentally friendly product has a soft, luxurious texture and high elongation property and formability, which gives the vehicle an enveloping and comfortable atmosphere.
